Electricians in the United States are divided into two main categories: lineman, who work on electric utility company distribution systems at higher voltages, and wireman, who work at lower voltages within buildings. Wiremen have five subspecialties: commercial, residential, light industrial, industrial, and low voltage wiring.
Electricians train in their field to meet one of three levels: Apprentice, Journeyman and Master Electrician. An Apprentice Electrician spends several hundred hours in a classroom studying his trade and work under contract for a period of three to six years while receiving a percentage of the Journeyman’s pay. A Journeyman Electrician has completed his apprenticeship and is issued a license from a local, state, or national licensing body that ensures he is competent in his field. An electrician reaches the Master level when he has performed well in the trade for approximately seven to ten years and has passed an exam that demonstrates his superior knowledge of the National Electric Code.
Alloway Electricians have spent countless hours studying and training allowing them to be licensed, insured, and bonded and allowing you to trust them with any residential and commercial job and know that it will be done quickly and correctly.
